Bolgheri DOC Superiore 

2022 was a year marked by a specific period of drought that began at the end of winter and persisted for much of the summer. In mid-August, a series of thunderstorms proved providential during the crucial grape ripening period. Bolgheri varieties demonstrated a very positive response, resilient on one hand to the initial lack of water and on the other, efficiently metabolizing the rains, ultimately allowing for optimal ripening, especially for the later-ripening varieties. Harvest started around the secondo week of September and concluded at the end of September.

2021 has the features of a great Bolgheri vintage. The winter-spring period, characterized by a lot of rain, contrasted with the summer period where it was practically absent. A complementary situation, where the depth of the soil, one of the virtues of our territory, was fundamental to obtaining a great result. In particular, it allowed the plants, even during the 3 months of absence of rain, to access the water that had deposited in the soil in the previous months.<br/>It’s a harvest in which all the uniqueness of Bolgheri can be perfectly expressed through strength, finesse and elegance.

The 2020 vintage was characterised by a mild and rainy winter. Spring was also warm and with some rainfall. <br/>Summer was hot but not torrid, allowing the grapes to ripen optimally. <br/>Rainfalls at the end of August, permitted the grapes to ripen perfectly healthy and of excellent quality.

Winter 2019 was characterized by rains and snowfalls that allowed the deposit of water reserves; average spring temperatures favored an early april budbreak and high summer temperatures in June, July and August brought the grapes to perfect ripening. In general, the 2019 vintage has produced well balanced wines with an excellent aging potential.

2018 has began with an early sprouting due to high temperatures in March and April, followed by a fairly rainy May. Temperatures have started to rise again since June; summer temperatures in the norm with scattered rains. The month of September in particular saw a succession of sunny days but with a great thermal excursion between day and night, which allowed the grapes a proper phenolic and aromatic maturation.

Vintage 2017 has been characterized by a mild and dry winter followed by a spring with very little rainfalls. As a consequence the vines budded almost 20 days in advance. In the second decade of April night frosts have slowed down the vegetative development of the shoots, but fortunately without damage. <br/>The month of May through August were characterized by hot dry weather with temperatures above the average. Rain showers at the end of August and September have lowered the temperatures guaranteeing a balanced ripening of the grapes.
